I Do Not Dream Of Labor
For most of us, we simply do not dream of working therefore having a dream job seems counterintuitive. However, for most of us working is ever present reality and necessity in most cases…so let’s chat shall we? If you are wanting to find your dream job, this is for you!
There are some key things you can do to intentionally work to find your dream job but it starts with clarity around what that looks like, so for this blog we’ll focus on that. As you think of your dream job, what does that mean tangibly?
The top priority is how much you want to be paid, please know this answer before you even begin your job search…it almost immediately narrows the search.
Is the job fully remote, hybrid, or do you prefer on-site (for my social creatures or those easily distracted at home)?
Are there particular industries you’d like to be part of? Any you want to avoid?
What benefits are important to you? PTO, fully covered medical/vision/dental, professional development stipends, travel opportunities, etc?
What titles are you interested in? Would you like a promotion or just a different organization?
It’s also important to evaluate what it is you enjoy about your current role and what you dislike and is prompting your job search. That information should shape your search and each application you complete should be aligned with those answers. Additionally, you can create job alerts with these qualifications in mind so that sites like LinkedIn and Indeed will email you when opportunities arise that are what you are looking for. Work smarter…not harder! The job search process is hard enough, be sure to make it as easy as possible.
