Begin…AGAIN!
Have you ever had to restart a goal and gotten frustrated with yourself for ever stopping? That’s exactly where I am these days. I’d finally found my purpose for existing in this world and I gave it all away one decision at a time. However, I’m actively working to redevelop, rebrand, and readjust to the things that I know I’m supposed to be doing…all while balancing the guilt and shame associated with stopping in the first place. Maybe if I didn’t stop I’d be closer to that goal or able to achieve this level of success by now.
If this is you, know that you’re not alone. Also, STOP IT! (Yes I’m talking to myself too).
Sometimes life knocks us down and it requires a bit of recalibration to get back on track, and that’s okay! Sometimes we gave into the fear of success or even the fear of failure, and that’s okay too. What matters most is that you have the courage to get back on it after being knocked down (or jumping down in some cases). If you are in the middle of beginning again, know that it’s okay to hold yourself accountable while also extending grace to yourself. Both can be true at the same time, it just takes some intentionality on your part.
Just know that I’m proud of you for having the self-awareness to acknowledge that you’ve fallen off and the self-accountability to know that it’s time to get back to it. Take it slow and make intentional steps towards accomplishing your goals. You may not have the same ability or capacity as you once did because you took some time off, give yourself grace as you work back to who you were. One key area I’m working to begin again in is my fitness journey. I had a kid and that changed my body in tangible ways, I don’t even know that my body ever will return to how it was before having my daughter. I went from being in the best shape of my life to not being happy with what’s in the mirror. At this point, all I can do is appreciate my body for the work that it did in creating life and work intentionally to get closer to the body I’d like.
Maybe your issue isn’t fitness but this mindset can be applied to just about any area of your life. Work to develop intentional and consistent steps in the right direction, the rest requires just a little bit of grace!
