But What If You Succeed
A lot of times we hear about the fear of failure, and yes that’s a very real thing. When was the last time you sat and reflected on the fear of success? I am willing to bet that it impacts more people than they realize, but it should be respected just as much…if not more. If you’re the first person in your family to do anything huge, this is probably always playing in the background for you. Statistically speaking, about 30% of people have reported having this fear in a survey done by Linkagoal. As I reflect on my journey as a speaker, entrepreneur, and business owner…this has caused me to struggle in a number of tangible ways!
As I sit here starting (yet another) blog, I think I was prompted to write about this subject first because it’s very real. I’ve always aimed to be HOT (Humble Open and Transparent) in everything that I do, so I wanted to start this blog with transparency and share that I deal with this all of the time. It’s also always been my goal to leave you with tangible things that you can apply in your life to work towards rectifying those challenges and move forward! This one is a bit tricky and make require persistence and a bit of trial and error. So here we go…here are a few things you can do to address the fear of success and overcome it!
Have a supportive community willing to speak directly into your life (with the good and bad)
Work to heal the insecurities that trigger particular negative talk in your life through therapy, journaling, etc
Give your concerns to God and ask Him to heal your heart and mind in that area
Intentionally seek out mentorship in the areas that give you the most trouble
Just do it…sometimes you have to rip the bandaid and do it scared
I hope this helps shift your perspective around the fear of failure and allows you the space to heal fully. It won’t just magically go away, but the more you practice the above steps…it does get a little quieter. I look forward to all that you’re able to accomplish with these fears out of the way!
